Prototype and script.aculo.us: You never knew JavaScript could do this!Unlike the title of this book suggests, I actually did know JavaScript could do this... however prototype.js (in case you haven't heard) makes almost everything about JavaScript quite painless. Prototype is one of those "products" (for lack of a better term) that has all these features that you just won't discover accidentally. Thus far the book seems like a great guide to the power of prototype. I'm really excited about this book and am learning loads of stuff, so maybe I didn't know JavaScript could do this after all. |

Ruby on Rails Beyond the BasicsKevin Skoglund has done a really great job at explaining the world of Ruby on Rails. Rails is different, it uses something called Convention over Configuration. Imagine that everyone you knew kept everything in their kitchen in the same drawers and cupboards. You could go to any of your friend's houses and make dinner for them; no problem. I know that analogy is a far fetch, but I'm known for those. It also uses the MVC method of code separation. If you haven't used Lynda.com in the past, you are kind of missing out. |
