The mirrors on a bike usually help create the silhouette of the machine. The RC8 mirrors are no ordinary kit either. Two things about these mirrors are relatively uncommon.

  1. They mount on the inside of the fearing. This looks really slick and offers a unique look. Most other bikes such as the Kawasaki Ninja, Ducati Desmosedici, Suzuki Hayabusa, Yamaha R6, and pretty much every other bike I can think of don’t use this mounting method.
  2. They contain integrated turn signals. Integrated turn signals are nothing new, but it still adds another degree of difficulty to the shape. I tried to flow the edges around the areas that would house the turn signals when creating the model, and then just extruded the shape once I was done.

The mirrors on this bike have to look right or it will bring the overall quality of the model down. Up to this point, I’m happy with they way they have turned out.

Does anyone know of another bike that uses this technique to mount the mirrors? I can’t think of any. What about integrated turn signals? Off the top of my head I can think of 3 Ducatis: The 999, the 1098 & the Desmosedici.
