Another image of my Generic Sport Bike

I’ve been working on this project for a long time. It’s very close to being finished and I wanted to share a render from the end of the modeling phase. About 99% of the geometry is completed at this point and I’m about to begin the texturing phase. Unlike my previous models, this bike will not be fully UV Mapped. The model uses geometry to tell most of the story instead of heavy use of texture maps.

Using The New Axis Handles in Cinema 4D (R13)

Cinema 4D R13 has a few new features that really make the workflow much easier. The axis manipulation tools are definitely at the top of that list.

Motorcycle Tire Study

There are a few strange aspects of motorcycle tires (sport bike tires specifically). First off, they curve on two different axes simultaneously. Secondly, they usually have intricate tread patterns that seem to have been carved by a tattoo artist; modeling the treads on them is tricky to say the least.

New 3D Model – Blade mSR Micro R.C. Helicopter

The Blade mSR is by far my favorite RC Helicopter. It’s fast, durable, fun & charges quickly. On a calm day you can fly it outside, but on windy days, I guess you can make a 3D model of it.

RC8 Status & PC Troubles

I typically wake up early and do 3D to stay in practice, since I work in the Web industry. This morning I woke up to a PC that wouldn’t boot. It would POST, then detect the CPU, then just sit there on the energy star screen. After much troubleshooting I believe that it is a USB related issue. Unplugging all my USB devices allowed it to continue. After taking stock, it looks like my smart phone being plugged in could have been halting the process, although I have not tested this yet.

I’ve run a test and the Epic 4G is indeed the cause of this booting halt! Read More
