2007 Kawasaki ZX-6R

And it’s done!

My previous attempt at creating a 100% non-overlapping UV map was not very successful. Thus, I have substituted most of the UV map in favor of my previous technique of mapping – stacking.

Stacking UVs that have common surface properties such as black plastic, chrome, polished aluminum, can greatly reduce the region needed to texture in these areas. Additionally, you can stack symmetrical parts like headlights and turn signals. Read More

Mikuni 36mm Carburetor

This carburetor model will be fed into a rapid-prototyping machine for use in a scale model. The carburetor will be used in a 1:5 replica of a ’74 TZ350 that originally raced in Australia. Some parts will be metal, some hand fabricated alloy, and other bits (like this one) will be created by rapid-prototyping. Read More

2006 Buell XB-12R 3D Model

The Buell XB-12R. A thumping V-Twin, monster torque and American muscle all packed into a sport-bike package. This model was commissioned for a client who had certain specifications in mind. The polygon count needed to be higher that my models in the past, especially in the wheels and brake rotors. (the renderings of the bikes shown use their low-resolution alternatives) Read More

2005 Suzuki Hayabusa 3D Model

The Hayabusa has long been one of the more popular bikes with a greater than 1000cc motor. The 1300cc motor on this beast has been a favorite for modding and even turbo-charging.

This 3D Model of the “Busa” is the 2005 version, and although not much was changed on these bikes since the first Hayabusa, the color schemes created for this one are mostly representative of the ’05 model. Read More

Triumph Daytona 675

About The Bike

The Daytona 675 is one of triumph’s best selling bikes ever. The sleek curves and powerful 3 cylinder motor make it a sure winner. This model captures the curves and angles of this bike perfectly. Every detail, from the stunning frame to the distinctive nose, is captured.

The Race Version

The Race Version of this bike was inspired by some club racers that I found on the Web. They had some Daytona 675s that they raced and I found some race-bodywork images from a link on their forum. Typically, I simply modify the stock bodywork by merging the seams and then sculpt any additional details and patch any unnecessary holes. Both of these paint jobs are inspired by the Union Jack, enhancing this bike’s proud British heritage. Read More

MuZ SuperMoto Race Bike 3D Model

This model was derived from an actual bike, the MZ Mastiff 660 Supermoto bike. The bike pictured in the previous link was modeled after my father’s friend’s bike. I took a few dozen photos, started modeling and it turned out really well. I saw it appear on The History Channel’s Shockwave though this race version would have been more appropriate, but that’s another issue altogether. Read More

Ducati Desmosedici RR 3D Model

Update:
If you’d like to see how this model was created (sped up a lot) then check out the time-lapse screen-cast.

About The Model

When Ducati announced a street-legal version of thier GP6 motoGP racing machine, I just had to create a 3D model of it. In addition, I have created an Italian Flag paint-job for this magnificent machine.

About The Bike

The Desmosedici-RR is essentially a street legal version of the 200hp+ motoGP GP6 by Ducati. Now ordinary people (And by ordinary people I mean a select few that are wealthy and privileged.) can own what is essentially a replica of the championship machine that many of us have only dreamed of riding. This is a huge deal, seriously it’s like being able to buy a Formula One race car that’s street legal… wait a minute, that sounds familiar. If you thought “Enzo” before clicking that link, then congratulations, you have some perspective on how amazing this bike is. Read More

2006 Yamaha R6 3D Model

Yamaha made their SuperSport 600cc machine even better for 2006. Every detail of this bike is captured in this ‘medium poly’ model of the acclaimed Yamaha R6…

The Modeling

This bike was really challenging to model, as I had only seen it “in the flesh” once before modeling it. The fuel tank was really easy to sculpt, as it reflected light at really drastic angles, and this really accentuated the shape of it in photographs. Read More

Suzuki GSX-R 1000

About This Model

This 3D model was contrated by a client who needed a spinning model of their race team’s bike for a web site. Photos of the existing bike were used as reference. The stock, showroom version was also created, and the factory paint-job was applied to that version of the model. The race version however, actually sported different bodywork and exhaust pipes. 2005 Ducati 999 3D Model

The Ducati 999

By far my favorite Ducati.

When the client I modeled these bike for said, “Okay Jamie, great work on the first bike. Now I think we’ll do the 999.” I was a bit nervous to say the least, but still ready for my next challenge. The Ducati 999 possesses some of the most unique bodywork and frame design of any sport bike out there; rivaled only by other exotic European bikes like the MV Agusta F4. This machine definately exercised my modeling skills, as well as my perception of how a bike should be “roughed-out” during the modeling process. Read More

Y2K ZX-6R Ninja

The Bike Behind The Model

I rode a ZX-6R Ninja exactly like this one for nine months before a reckless driver hit me head on. I survived the crash, but as you’d expect, my Kawasaki was reduced to a heap of twisted metal. I managed to leave the scene of the accident with no broken bones or major injuries.

I completed this 3D model and garage scene only three months earlier, and although cliché, I feel that my bike lives on through the 3D model and renders. Read More
